CADTable is a global online computer-aided design (CAD) competition for all students over the age of 13 around the world. Students from all CAD experience levels ranging from novices to advanced CAD designers can find categories that can challenge them to think critically and compete in teams up to 4 members.

Timeline:

  • March 22nd at 7:00 PM PT: How to Design a Part Workshop
  • March 23rd at 4:30 PM PT: Integrating Parts into Assemblies Workshop
  • March 27th at 12:00 PM PT: Kickoff (and released prompts)
  • March 28th at 5:00 PM PT: Rendering CAD Workshop
  • April 3rd - 8:00 AM PT: CADTable Submissions Close
  • April 3rd - 5:00 PM PT: CADTable Award Ceremony

Requirements

There are 3 categories for competitors to compete in:

  • Novice - Design a trophy
  • Intermediate - Improving the pringles can
  • Advanced - Design an apartment complex

These categories increase in difficulty based on the experience level of the individual.

The following elements are required in the submission to Devpost. Please put these in a Google Drive folder and submit the link to that in Devpost:

  • Design STEP File

  • URL to project (Onshape) or editable project file (example: .f3z)

  • Up to 4 Images

  • 2-minute Video

  • Engineering Notebook (Optional)

Participants are required to use the prompts in their category to design a solution using any CAD software (Onshape Recommended for Beginners).

Judging Criteria

  • Novice Category
    Design a trophy for a theme you select. Make sure that it reflects that theme, is aesthetically pleasing, creative, and fits within a 12" x 12" x 12" box.
  • Intermediate Category
    Make an innovative product to improve the experience of removing Pringles from the can without ruining the perfect stack. Requirements: The product needs to hold the Pringles snugly and needs to accommodate people's hand sizes. Keep the costs low!
  • Advanced Category
    Build an apartment complex that combines high density with comfort, collaboration, and a green footprint for an estimated 1000 residents.
